About the Event

"In backbends, one touches the body physically, mentally, intellectually, consciously and spiritually everywhere." B.K.S. Iyengar  Backbends can excite the nervous system leading to an increase in energy levels, boosting vitality.  Our Spines are an incredible combination of strength and flexibility, of Sthira and Sukha, helping us to find balance on and off the mat.  We will use a vinyasa flow to help warm up all the muscles needed to practice backbends.  

Backbends stretch the quads and hip flexors, recruit the abs to strengthen the front body as we flex the back body, open up the shoulders and chest.  As we open our hearts in these beautiful poses we will open the heart chakra, releasing anything that no longer serves us  physically, emotionally whilst building courage and stamina.  

We will finish with some cooling pranayama and meditation.
